At the Crossroads of a Major New East-West Conflict

Martin D. Weiss, Ph.D. | Monday, August 29, 2016 at 7:30 am

(For Martin’s 5-minute video from Istanbul, click here.)

Martin-Weiss

Suddenly, Turkey has emerged as a major focal point in a new conflict between East and West.

And that’s exactly where I just shot this new video.

In fact, just as I was on my way here from Italy, ISIS launched a brutal suicide attack on a wedding party in the southeast of the country.

And just as I was caught in an Istanbul traffic jam, President ErdoÄŸan invaded Syria with tanks and airstrikes against ISIS positions.

But this is only ONE aspect of the crisis I see all around me here in Turkey’s largest city.

In my just-released, 5-minute video, I show you …

  • How Turkey’s crisis is rooted in a millennial conflict between empires …
  • Where and when the country has blatantly defied Europe since the 1970s …
  • Why the crisis is currently a powerful bullish force in U.S. markets …
  • And how it could morph into an equally powerful bearish force in the future.

If you click here, the video will play on your screen right away. Then, leave your comments and questions below, and I’ll do my best to address your feedback — both from last week and this week.

Good luck and God bless!

Martin

I harken back to J R Crooks article on 7/29/16…….it sure sounds like oil control is at the heart of this and Turkey is not willing to play by the globalist centralists rules anymore

Completely agree with. Good luck to Erdogan and Turkey.

Hi Martin,
In last Feb I was visiting the same place you are in right now. It was amazing journey. I will wait for your next comments about how much any crisis in this part can influence the global markets in particular US market.

it,s going to get worse before it gets better

Question: since the U.S. was the major instigator of this Mid East crisis, by George H.W. Bush attacking a Religion, ISLAM, and George Bush further expanding the Jihad, wouldn’t it be better for the U.S. to pack up and come home, attaching all it’s efforts toward the Muslim Nations there settling their internecine differences?
Then, a move toward Russia to settle with the EU, stabilizing their border, making Ukraine a Hong Kong like free trade State, eliminating NATO, and, ergo,” WORLD PEACE”?

Alfie Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 1:09 pm

Well said Richard.

How long can you blame Bush for the weak, incompetent president we have now, that in 8 years has caused nothing but chaos and brought our nation to such low standards and position? You need to start looking at facts and figures.

Donald Link Monday, August 29, 2016 at 11:51 am

When I was in the Army we were told Turkey was essential to defend the southern flank of Europe against the Soviets and would be reliable since they were traditional adversaries. Erdogan is now acting like the dictator Putin is so no more adversarial relationship. In statecraft as in chess, you are supposed to think several moves ahead.

Hi Martin

It looks nasty and has the makings of greater conflict, but we don’t have to involve ourselves anymore just yet. We are in debt up to our eyeballs and our service men and women deserve our safe judgment for the moment. The major powers have avoided global conflict in recent years by containing outbreaks to regional disputes. However, I would be very interested to hear your thoughts on the safe haven of gold. With negative bond market rates and threats of bail ins and bank failures, what do you see as the medium term opportunities for gold?

Joe Monday, August 29, 2016 at 9:50 pm

Good summation. My experience with the Turkish Army is the careerists were western oriented and professional. The conscripts were mostly Muslims and marking time. I’m curious you did not mention Turkey’s request for the US to turn over nuclear weapons stored near Izmir, or they’d take them by force. Turkey has learned well from Iran and with Iran’s games using North Korean missiles in Yemen, and the Yemenis firing them into Saudi oil fields, WW III is not far away!

America is going down because the country has no Leadership, and it is most likely will be in future. The people they have to take stand for their country.

This video is very good. Just the right length. Uncle Sam always knows what to do best when we live in the rockiest of times.

This all reminds me of Isaiah chapter 17, with its prophecy of destruction of Damascus.

Martin
Thanks for enlightening us as to what is really going on in Turkey. It’s a shame our State Department doesn’t have a clue. Keep up the great job. Thank You
