Money and Markets’ Economic and Company Calendar Dec. 30-Jan. 3

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke and other central bank officials will be bringing in the New Year with speeches at a conference in Philadelphia later this week. We’ll also get economic reports ranging from consumer confidence to manufacturing.

Markets will be closed Wednesday for New Year’s Day.

What follows are the highlights of Federal Reserve, economic and company reports. (All times are Eastern standard time; forecasts by analysts/economists polled by Bloomberg.)

Federal Reserve Board

Jan. 3

Philadelphia Federal Reserve President Charles Plosser participates in a panel discussion on “Transitioning From a Low Interest-Rate Environment in a Global Economy” at the American Economic Association meeting in Philadelphia. 10:15 a.m.

Richmond Federal Reserve President Jeremy Lacker speaks on the economic outlook at the Maryland Bankers Association in Baltimore. 1 p.m.

Fed Gov. Jeremy C. Stein speaks at the American Economic Association/American Finance Association Joint Luncheon in Philadelphia. 1:15 p.m. The topic is “Banks as Patient Debt Investors.”

Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke speaks at the American Economic Association meeting in Philadelphia. The topic is “The Changing Federal Reserve: Past, Present, Future.” 2:30 p.m.

Philadelphia Fed Reserve President Charles Plosser gives a speech in Philadelphia. 5 p.m.

Dallas Federal Reserve Bank Texas Manufacturing Survey, 10:30 a.m.

S&P Case-Shiller Home Price Index, 9 a.m.

Purchasing Managers Manufacturing Index, 8:58 a.m.
