Money and Markets Economic and Company Calendar May 19-23

Potentially market-moving economic reports coming out this week include new and existing home sales, plus the minutes of the FOMC’s last meeting. Earnings reports continue with a number of retailers, including Target, Home Depot and Lowe’s, posting results.

Bond markets close at 2 p.m. on Friday ahead of the Memorial Day weekend.

What follows are calendar highlights for the week. (All times are Eastern Daylight Time; forecasts by analysts/economists polled by Bloomberg.)

Monday, May 19

Dallas Fed President Richard Fischer and San Francisco Fed President John Williams take part in a panel discussion in Dallas on the role of the Federal Reserve, 12:05 p.m.

Tuesday, May 20

Philadelphia Fed President Charles Plosser speaks in Washington on the economic outlook, 12:30 p.m.

Wednesday, May 21

Fed Chair Janet Yellen gives the New York University commencement speech at Yankee Stadium.

New York Fed President William Dudley holds a briefing with economics on regional jobs and economic conditions, 10 a.m.

Kansas City Fed President Esther George speaks in Washington on the U.S. economy and banking, 12:50 p.m.

Minneapolis Fed President Narayana Kocherlakota speaks in Minneapolis, 1:30 p.m.

FOMC minutes from the last meeting are released at 2 p.m.
