This week President Obama implemented an executive decision that caps certain student loan repayments. The president crowed that his move would “help open the doors of opportunity for all.” And what, exactly is the price of all that door opening? The president didn’t know. When government officials are indifferent about the costs of their schemes, when they operate in the dark or conceal the burdens of their programs, it is negligence that is criminal in nature.
