The U.S. has been arming Jihadists in the Middle East for more than a generation now. And it must have escaped the notice of the interventionists in Washington all these long years, both Democrats and Republicans, and senior CIA policymakers. But none of those arms sent to Afghanistan, Libya, or Syria stayed in Afghanistan, Libya or Syria. And now Iraq has descended deeply into horrific violence and bloodshed. Maybe this time, the direct connection between U.S. policy and the carnage that we see on TV in
Iraq, maybe this time the people can at least be clear enough to understand that it demands a different foreign policy.
