Pulte Homes executives say Central Florida buyers will see few changes as the result of the company’s takeover Tuesday of Centex Corp., an acquisition that positions Pulte as the largest homebuilder in the country.
Scott Campbell, Pulte’s Central Florida division president, said his company will honor all Centex contracts and warranties. Eventually, the two companies will likely consolidate warranties. Such changes will likely take place over the next 12 to 18 months, he added.
Campbell said he expects Centex will complement Pulte’s existing menu of new-home offerings with more products aimed at entry-level buyers. In Sanford, for instance, Centex sells homes in the Sterling Meadows community for prices ranging from $156,990 to $219,990.
In addition, Campbell said, the combined operations should create economies of scale in terms of building materials and other resources. In Central Florida, he said, the companies don’t compete head-to-head in any of the region’s developments.
