Money and Markets: Investing Insights

Wealth-Building Power … and the Silk Road

Money and Markets | Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 7:30 am

Here’s a quick, executive summary of stories from this past trading week, with a link to the full articles online.

Exciting, Amazing Wealth-Building Power

Martin D. Weiss presents the of three half-hour sessions with Jon Markman and the amazing wealth-building power of what he does. Read the transcript here.

Rosier Outlook — But Obstacles Remain

The global macro picture is looking a little rosier despite weak economic data last week. The U.S. economy is not super robust, but the latest data suggest it does continue to expand, as evidenced in jobs data in particular. And news on the international wires shows that the euro zone continues to improve some, the Japanese economy is improving some, a couple of big emerging markets like India are improving some. Still there are obstacles to future growth. Jon Markman takes a look here.

Chongqing is one of the cities Larry is visiting along China’s new Silk Road, all in the name of finding many new investment opportunities.

Larry Reports from the Silk Road

Larry Edelson is writing from Chongqing, China — where he just arrived to kick off a two-week tour of China’s Silk Road 2.0 — the 21st century version of the ancient, 2000 year old Silk Road trading route that connected China to Europe and beyond. Read about it here.

The Best Tech Opportunities Today

Inevitably there have been scores of comparisons this week between “then” and “now” for the Nasdaq, and times have indeed changed. Mike Burnick takes a look. Read more by clicking here.

Foreign Rate Cuts and What They Mean for You

China, India and even Poland are cutting interest rates, joining a long list of central banks that are getting into the action, even as U.S. rates are poised to go up. Mike Larson takes a look at what it all means. Click here to read on.

The Week’s Hot News

Money and Markets columnist Mike Larson takes a look at key financial and political events around the globe after the market close. Here are the week’s highlights:

Will Big Deals Keep Tech Train Rolling?

Do the big deals in the tech sector signal a boom in corporate confidence and economic growth? Or is it just a case of companies not having anything better to do with their money? Mike Larson examines the issue. Read his views by clicking here.

Where’s the Mania?

Something is missing this time. The big run-up in stocks, including Nasdaq 5,000, seems to be accompanied by a lack of mania and hysteria. What does that mean for the market? Mike takes a look. Click here to read more.

Obamacare Back in Court

Obamacare is the source of passionate debate around the country. Now, it’s the focus of scrutiny in the hallowed halls of the Supreme Court! The nation’s chief justices heard arguments today about whether the Affordable Care Act, as currently structured, is fundamentally flawed. What’s going on? Mike takes a look. Click here to read more.

ECB, Economic Data Muddy the Waters!

Until we get some more clarity — on policy plans, currency values, and the state of the job market, Mike is sitting on his hands for a bit in his shorter-term trading strategies, even as he continues to pursue opportunities on longer-term trends. Click here to read more.

Best wishes,

The Money and Markets Team
