Jupiter-based Weiss Ratings on Monday listed 2,259 U.S. banks and savings institutions nationwide as financially "vulnerable," with ratings of D+ or lower, while just 962 earned the company’s strongest ratings of B+ or better. Its ratings consider capital, asset quality, earnings, liquidity and other factors.
In South Florida, BankAtlantic, Ocean Bank and Great Florida Bank were among those designated "vulnerable" by Weiss, while tiny Bank of Belle Glade was ranked among the 962 strongest lenders.
