It was 100 years ago this month that President Wilson signed the act creating the Federal Reserve. Since then the Fed has presided over the worst economic downturn in our nation’s history and a gut-checking recession from which we have still not recovered. It has created a series of market bubbles and busts, quietly funded undeclared wars, and loaned trillions to private companies, and even foreign banks and governments without oversight. And it has destroyed 96 percent of the value of the dollar along the way.
